Is fire hot or cold?

Remix Sunday 53

By Kenny Komer

I used to live on the same block as this great squat in Copenhagen, Ungdomshuset (or The Youth House), with a grand ballroom where they had punk shows and strange performance art. It was originally built in the 1890′s as a base for the Copenhagen worker’s movement. I would always ride my bike across town to Christiania to buy hash, and sit on the grass and eat this magical energy cake with an elderflower juice. Christiania, for those who don’t know, is an amazing community that is basically the greatest urban squat of all time. It was originally Danish military barracks. In the past few years the Danish government, under the leadership of PM Anders Fogh Rasmussen, have gone and fucked both of these wonderful places up.

as much as I hate Anders Fogh, he can’t be blamed for the eviction or the demolition of the youth house that’s taking place now. it’s the local council that’s fucked this one up.

    great blog btw, nice mixes.

yeah i’m half Danish (on my dad’s side). i don’t really know much about this issue though as i don’t live in Denmark and never really have but it is a sad thing to see happen.

    great music, as always!

Clearly PM Anders Fogh Rasmussen does not have anything directly to do with the recent events…but I’ll he doesn’t cry himself to sleep at night!

BTW: Even NYC had a small demonstration against the clearing and destruction of “Ungdomshuset”

    POS – Greatest blog around!
