Great selection, shame there’s nothing from ‘Always outnumbered..’ though.

Also, on a technicality, that Nirvana track wasn’t actually sampled in Voodoo People coz Liam didn’t like the quality, so they stole the riff and re-recorded it themselves. But yeah, same difference ;)

    Genius! I love Sample Wednesdays.

I was the kid in junior high kids would go “oh yea, he’s the kid that likes prodigy”.

Since 92 baby! anyway…I thought people might be interested in some other ones:

“Jericho”: Jungle Brothers – Forgot! (“keep on dancin…feel the bass come down on me baby”)

HiJack – The Badman is Robin (“The Horns of Jericho”)

“your love”: Circuit – shelter me (vocal)

    “Charley”:
    http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/films/1964to1979/filmpage_mummy.htm

“Out of Space”: Max Romeo and the Upsetters – Chase The Devil

“Their Law” – (intro vocal from the film Unlawful Entry)

“One Love” – “Arabic Muezzin” sample from Zero G ‘time and space’ sample pack (lol.)

“Breathe” – Wu Tang Clan “36 Chambers” (Sword sounds) James Bond: You Only Live Twice Soundtrack (The breakdown Guitar Samples about 1:30 in)

“Funky Shit” – Beastie Boys – Root Down (vocal sample)

“Mindfields” – James Bond in The Man with the Golden Gun “River Scene”

Here’s one more for smack my bitch up:

The sample of “change my pitch up, smack my bitch up” was (initially) taken from Kool Keith on a Ultramagnetic MC’s song, “Give The Drummer Some” from the album Critical Breakdown.

However, while doing “Diesel Power” for Prodigy, Liam played Keith the track, and he was so thrilled that he re recorded it clean for Prodigy.

If everyone already knew all that…SORRRYYYY.

I’m gonna try and find all the songs in my library (after I go see Justice tonight in Chicago!).

Be cool if we could get all of it up here.

Hello, I found a little addition on Wikipedia: Ultramagnetic MC’s – “Give The Drummer Some” (vocals of “Smack my bitch up”) & Ultramagnetic MC’s – “Critical Beatdown” (sampled on “Out of space”).
Keep up the good work, I’m looking forward to the next Wednesdays.

Again, sorry for clogging the internet with more unnecessary info to anyone who already knows this. But there’s an excellent mix that Liam Howlett put out in the gap between diesel power and the other one called the Dirt Chamber Sessions, basically a mix of his favourite tracks, a bunch of which he’s sampled. Thought I’d mention it because it was released round about when I was getting into hip-hop and it helped open my ears to some new (mostly old) stuff that I’d heard sampled all over the place but never whole tracks. Its pretty varied too…

    Cool post guys!!

Who knows where the vocal sample from “Girls” comes from?
Heard the original in a mix.. It’s some kind of 80ties hip hop track..

    Thanks in advance !!!
