Disco Lust
Stylusts, who consist of three of our favorite Ottawan homeboys (Drastik, Illo, & T-Wrecks), sent us a over a mix ready for some serious summer heat. Heavily influenced by disco, this mix blends the late 70s grooves of Carrie Lucas and Harvey Mason with 2008 favorites by Boys Noize and The Twelves. Have a listen and holla at Canada’s finest.

LOVE the tracklist, but only liked the mix …….! Eventhough it’s full of golden oldies and samplelisious material, the mixing could be tighter! Keep thinking about the harmony….. Some of the used acapellas & samples didn’t harmonically match the track they were placed over…..!! It made me cringe more than once….. Sweet scratching, more than great track choice, but poor mixes…!!

this mix is really cheesy. i have a ton of popular disco samples too, but i don’t transition them all together in a mix and then send it to palms out as an original work. i would expect a little more creativity and originality from t-wrecks and drastik.
also, this blog is tanking. sure you’ve built up a name by this point. but you can’t just post 15 half-way decent remixes every sunday (half of which are reposts) and expect me to keep reading. its not like you people have jobs that are keeping you from updating this shit.
you are either lazy, or your taste in dance music is getting worse.

That alone proves that you are an idiot. Some of us work other jobs more than 50-60 hours a week, so please spare us the ‘ambition’ crap. Blogging is a hobby, not a career. You should keep it the same.
2. The site is more than just a blog. We are also busy working on releases for artists of our own and having events in the city like our rooftop bbq this past weekend.
3. They aren’t ‘reposts’ Many blogs get their music from the same people, sometimes the same remix might be posted later on palmsout but it’s not like we go and find them from other blogs. Remix Sunday rarely (maybe never) posts things that Haldan doesn’t receive personally in his inbox.
4. Bklyn is down. Clearly you don’t know anything. Why don’t you take a break from being such a shitty blogwhore and go out for a change.

I can understand that people don’t want to listen to a half hour of disco all the time, but did y’all even get to the second part of the mix????? If you listen the whole way through, i think the mix makes sense! Maybe some of the acapellas were a little forced, but overall, we’re pleased with the outcome. And THERE ARE some seriously good mixes on there too!! We’re definitely pleased with the work Palms Out has consistently done, and the contributions of Brooklyn as a whole!!!!

I think this mix stays true to it’s disco roots. Some parts are not super tight, but I think it’s got that ‘feeling’ you know. I would like to compliment Stylus for some serious crate digging. Keep it up!

It’s pretty simple really, if you think you can do a better job, then prove it, post your mix so we can all criticize it, if not then don’t bother posting your comment, these boys have serious skills, some of Canada’s best Turntablists/DJ’s, you can’t judge them solely on one disco mix, you ever tried beat juggling and scratching Disco? Big ups to The Stylusts and Eh Team DJ’s all you haters and pseudo DJ’s need to get back in the bedroom and practice before you can even come close to these guys.
