Feed The Horse

I’m a very proud boy. The first release on Palms Out was a short run of 12″s by a pair of lesbians from Copenhagen- Fagget Fairys- then virtual unknowns in Denmark, and abroad. Released in November 2007, it featured the balkan vocal stylings of Ena, delivering a fierce barrage of razor-tipped words in a farmer’s dialect of Macedonian. Soon after came remixes from the likes of Drop the Lime, AC Slater, Zombie Disco Squad, Ursula 1000, and a slew of other talents- eager to work with Ena’s golden vocals. This little EP might have been the icepick in the avalanche. The release party was held in New York, and the Fairys traveled to visit us here- and needed a place to stay. They found themselves holed up in the apartment of a Danish producer living in New York, Rasmus Bille Bähncke. After the release fest, he mentioned to them that they should try recording something while they were in town, how he was really impressed by them, and how he was eager to step outside the super-pop circle he normally worked within. They jumped right in, and the results were priceless.

So began the year-long process of recording the Fagget Fairys debut album, Feed The Horse. I have had the pleasure and pride of getting to work on some of the songs with the Fairys, Bille Bähncke, and the other co-producers, Bjorn Winnem aka Teddie Confetti, & the super duo Lulu Rouge. The album varies from the adeptly crafted electro pop of “Feed The Horse” & “Watch My Back” to the deep dubby electro of “All I Want” & “This Thing I Do” and all the way out to the balkan funeral styles in “Negori”. Look out for the album out March 30th on Music For Dreams. Until then, enjoy the lead single, also titled “Feed The Horse”, this time with words in English- along with the deeper, dubbier, more dancefloor friendly dub done by the Fairys, myself, & Winnem.

To celebrate the release, we will also be reissuing 300 more copies of the Fagget Fairys Samo Ti 12″ – which is currently available digitally with all the remixes.
