Is fire hot or cold?

Nosaj Thing Remixed

The Northeast in December is a sadistic and soul-crushing joke on humanity. Honestly, I don’t know how anybody decided to live here, it is so fucking cold. The state of Connecticut makes me realize how lucky I was to grow up in the rich and fruitful city of Los Angeles, home of Kobe Bryant, taco trucks, and the finest quality sativa and indica strands on the earth. L.A. has also produced Flying Lotus, Daedelus, and Nosaj Thing, whose glitch-hop / dub melodies immediately cure any homesickness. What’s more exciting is that Nosaj Thing has recently released a remix album of his 2009 bass-heavy full-length Drift on Alpha Pup Records. Normally I am not a huge fan of remix albums, but this brief (half-hour long) collection of hip-hop, glitch, experimental, and dubstep is the best winter background music. My favorites are Austrian duo Dorian Concept’s remix of “Voices,” London-based producer Jon Hopkins’ remix of “Us,” and Daedelus’ remix of “Coat of Arms.” Check out those tracks and the original track “Fog” below.

Nosaj Thing -  “Fog”

Nosaj Thing – “Voiced” (Dorian Concept Remix)

Nosaj Thing – “Us” (Jon Hopkins Remix)

Nosaj Thing – “Coat of Arms” (Daedelus Remix)
