Matt Alsberg vs. Mark Smith

By antimc | September 11, 2007

It’s back, for the third week in a row, the next in a series of trailers for the Antimc micro-feature. Again, the star caliber of Eddie Rouse is undeniable, and the direction of Matt Dilmore is sizzling.

Let’s discuss something else this week. The Fall. And the influence that Mark E. Smith had on James Murphy. Don’t get me wrong, I love LCD Soundsystem, but if you’ve ever listened to Live At The Witch Trials or Grotesque or The Wonderful And Frightening World Of The Fall or anything by this band, you know what I’m talking about. So much of today’s dance-y semi-punkish attitude-ful music owes so much to Smith and his often shifting band of confederates it’s crazy. So… after the jumper check out some sweet Fall videos and think about how if it wasn’t for the Fall your favorite band would still have to be crazy stiff and super polished to be deemed worth a shit.

Arthur Brown vs. Antimc

By antimc | September 4, 2007

This is the second teaser trailer to the finest music-and-film collaborative work since “Hard Day’s Night,” if not “Blue Hawaii.” One again, the Antimc mini-film stars myself, Them Jeans, and Desert Eagles, who make up the Antimc Live Clusterf*ck, and features Eddie Rouse, who played a mailman in Juwanna Mann. Get with it.

Then, when you’re all pumped up, imbibe the dark magik of Arthur Brown. Before Alice Cooper and King Diamond were painting there faces and laying the blueprint for what would be theatrical heavy metal, Arthur Brown was killing it with the flaming Sumerian fertility symbol fitted, and combining American Soul music with copious amounts of killer sicknizz.

This is the first trialer for the film, which stars Hollywood megastar Eddie Rouse along with the Antimc band: Antimc, Desert Eagles and Them Jeans; directed by Matt Dilmore, who most recently brought donuts to my house for a TV party… oh and he made Santasm with his tight bro Tommy Kuntz.

A Certain Busdriver

By antimc | January 5, 2007

My dude Busdriver asked me to give his single a little hipster dance Dj refix touch. I was more than happy to do it, and thought A Certain Ratio was the best place to start. So… check out the remix, download, and give it a spin in your set and watch the floor flood with estrogen.

I’ve collabed with my main dude Them Jeans to put together this snappy club remix of Europe’s “The Final Countdown.” If you’re Djing on Sunday night, make sure you have this at 11:59, or you may not be invited back.

Antimc Hearts LA

By antimc | November 9, 2006

So…
I did this Dj mix of LA underground music… from punk to early metal to thrash to funk to gangsta rap to indie hip-hop shit. It’s pretty good, I think. So, I’m placing it up for the court of public opinion. This is the dirty mix, which isn’t all that dirty. But, if you’re a person with a radio show or a store or something and you wanna have a clean version, email me at antimc at gmail dot com and I’ll get you that. So… here’s the playlist:

01. The Screamers “The Beat Goes On” Unreleased (1978)
02. The Germs “Land of Treason” from (GI) (1979)
03. Guns n’ Roses “Reckless Life” from Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide (1986)
04. X “Sugarlight” from Los Angeles (1980)
05. Mötley Crüe “Public Enemy #1″ from Too Fast For Love (1981)
06. Red Hot Chili Peppers “True Men Don’t Kill Coyotes” from Red Hot Chili Peppers (1984)
07. Suicidal Tendencies “Subliminal” from Suicidal Tendencies (1983)
08. The Plugz “El Clavo y La Cruz” from Better Luck (1982)
09. Fishbone “Party at Ground Zero” from Fishbone (1985)
10. Fila Fresh Crew “Tuffest Man Alive” from Tuffest Man Alive also released on NWA & the Posse (1987)
11. King Tee “Bass” from Bass 12″ (1988)
12. Ice-T “High Rollers” from Power (1989)
13. Low Profile “Pay Ya Dues” from We’re In This Thing Together (1990)
14. Mikah-9 of Freestyle Fellowship “5 O’Clock Follies” from To Whom It May Concern (1991)
15. Divine Styler “Grey Matter” from Spiral Walls Containing Autumns of Light (1992)
16. Of Mexican Descent “She” from Old World Chaos (1993)
17. Aceyalone, T-Spoon (of Iodine), and C.V.E. “Jurassick” from Project Blowed (1994)
18. 3 Melancholy Gypsies “Dire Straits” from the unreleased Log Angeles Experiment (1995)

I just chose these years to focus on because 1978 was the year of my birth (whatvever), and 1995 was the year I started making music semi-professionally. “Dire Straits” was the first track I ever really produced.

Enjoy!

Banned on the CMJ

By antimc | October 12, 2006

So…
I had to like make a radio edit for this song on my record with this dude Anthony Anzalone. He’s a hardcore singer, use to sing for a band called the Mean Reds, and no wis singing for a group called Issei Sagawa, a pretty schweet band in Tokyo, Japan. Anyway, I tried to make it playable on radio, which meant even getting rid of like… questionable cuss words, and here’s what I’m left with…

Antimc: “Cesspool City” (featuring Anthony Anzalone)

and if you’re for some reason curious, here’s the original

So anyway… opinions? Sound shitty? I kinda like it…

Sample Wednesday 11: Freestyle Fellowship

By antimc | June 14, 2006

pe-ac-mi-ju* down the avenue

Seriously…
At fifteen growing up in L.A., there was no one doing it that could even touch these dudes. Going to the Goodlife, or the Blowed, or Unity, or wherever, and seeing these dudes rap was like watching the Lakers live at the forum or something. There was a period between my senior year in high school and my first year of community college when Innercity Griots just lived in my car’s cd changer; some of my friends thought it had gotten stuck or something. So… as a tribute to my youth, and one group’s golden age, this week’s Sample Wednesday is some of the beats (by folks like earthquake brothers, j sumbi, jmd, and others who not got the shine they well deserved) that made the first two fellowship albums (the only real fellowship LP’s, in my humble opinion) so incredible. By the way, to explain the tape cover: there’s a record store in L.A. called Record Surplus where I used to buy shit by the ton. I found this cassette in the dollar cassette bin. I could probably ebay it for a princely sum, or perhaps a king’s ransom, I like to look at it sometimes and wonder what could have been, had Jup been able to stay out and had Daddy-O not gotten his hands on these dudes. I’m so glad we had this time together.
