Oh Land + Savage Skulls + Endless Summer Mix
By Haldan | August 27, 2010
Old friends of Palms Out, Savage Skulls, have been working hard on a barrel full of remixes – my favorite of which is for the sweet and lovely Danish songstress, Oh Land. Another old friend of Palms Out – Kasper Bjørke – discovered Oh Land and signed her to the danish imprint Fake Diamond last year. Now, she is the next big thing on Sony Epic in the States, immediately signed after a stellar SXSW performance. The remix package for “Sun of a Gun” is golden, also including a gorgeous remix from Yuksek (available from RCRDLBL), and solid mixes from Ian Pooley and Kris Menace.

Savage Skulls also just sent over a brilliant new End of Summer mix filled with lots and lots of their new material. Included is their heater of a next single – “Bad Gal” produced with Douster, featuring vocals from Robyn, and coming out within a couple of weeks on Mad Decent. Also included on the release is b-side “Rendezvous” featuring Sprinkle Juice, as well as remixes from Crookers & J-Wow.

Dubbel Dutch – Trollsta (Limited Edition 12″)
By Haldan | August 11, 2010
As the first in a series of limited edition vinyl releases, artist John Dessereau has created a unique and beautiful version of Dubbel Dutch’s seminal release – “Trollsta” with remixes by Round Table Knights, Egyptrixx & MHM One. Not previously released on 12″, Dessereau (who also designed the artwork for the original digital single) hand screened the 100 record run with a design lifted from the original artwork on side B, while on side A – he hand painted & silk screened in four different color schemes. Because of the nature of the process, no single record in the series is the same. John details his process for each side on his blog: Part 1, Part 2.
You can purchase your own copy exclusively on the Palms Out Shop.

LOL Boys – 123 – OUT NOW! (POS019)
By Haldan | August 10, 2010
In anticipation for their debut EP, out on Palms Out in Autumn 2010 – we’re releasing a perfect end of Summer single – simply titled “123“. The first release from the phenomenal LOL Boys, based both in Los Angeles and Montreal. After a tight schedule of remixes for an eclectic range of acts like Bambounou, Ocelot, Korraleven, Para One, & Fagget Fairys – as well as a number of spot on and highly sought after bootlegs – comes their first official single. “123” draws on a wide range of influences – from UK house music, border town guarachero tribal anthems, to east coast sampled hip hop, chicago juke, dutch bubblin, and carefree LA filtered sunshine. On the remix, LA jungle nostalgists Camo UFOs deliver a high energy big beat hip hop track gone glitched and pitched jungle.
Boomkat describes “123” as “…somewhere between Juke, G-Funk and hypercolour, complete with insistent fidget samples and distilled drums that work a treat.”
Out now on all major outlets – Beatport, Boomkat, Juno, iTunes, & Turntablelab.
Watch the video for “123” directed by Jerome Potter – and then check the whole release out on soundcloud.

Kastle
By Haldan | July 9, 2010

Our very own B.Rich has been causing quite a stir with his alter-ego: Kastle.
He just sent over a much demanded track “Camera Phone” – a hoover laced, vocoder dripping steamer- as well as his newest remix for UK’s Example – a bassy hip hop bumper – out on Ministry of Sound. Not one to be at all stingy, home boy also sent over a very very solid funky mix for Martin Buttrich. Look out for his debut EP – out soon on Starkey & Dev79′s Seclusiasis imprint.

But that’s just a small slice of the ENORMOUS lineup which also includes Palms Out artists, Baba Black & Fagget Fairys (Thursday’s party on Blågårdsplads) as well as names like Ramadanman, Booka Shade, Mock & Toof, Simian Mobile Disco, Gus Gus, Giana Factory, Djuma Soundsystem, Michael Mayer, Kasper Bjørke, Sunny Beach Happy Slap Mardi Gras, and literally 100 more.
I myself, CANNOT WAIT!

Dubbel Dutch – Throwback Ep – OUT NOW! (POS016)
By Haldan | May 29, 2010
Palms Out is extremely proud to announce the release of Dubbel Dutch‘s long awaited second Ep – Throwback. The three song original release has been heralded by DJs across the globe for the last couple of months, and now finally, this intrepid release has finally seen the light of day. It was recently featured as Sinden’s pick of the month in DJ Mag with a brilliant review:
“Texas’s Dubbel Dutch had better brace himself for a big year because this release should propel this promising DJ/producer to some crazy new heights. Processing the mutant sounds of UK funky, the grey areas of future garage and house with bass, Dubbel has successfully turned them all on their head and created his own unique spin. ‘Throwback‘ is beautifully funky with its Baltimore club-style drums rolling straight from the first bar. A deep sub b-line and edited diva vocals entice before hitting you with the ultimate payoff. The flip, ‘Deep Underground‘, is more synth driven – equally futuristic and amazing. 5 Stars. ”
Pick up the limited edition 12″ from Phonica & Rubadub.
Out now on beatport, itunes, juno, turntablelab, and many more.
Preview the whole release on Soundcloud:
Here’s what some people have been saying about Throwback EP:
Bok Bok: “I can’t stop playing Deep Underground, massivest tune right now!!!”
Kingdom: “The mixing and compression on Throwback are so nice. Chopped diva vocals and clean sub-bass. I love the drifting cool-down moment in this track too, and when the breakbeat kicks back in, you know you need to brace yourself for a huge drop. Love it!!”
DJ Rupture: “Deep Underground combines the catchy familiarity of an instant anthem with real nice contemporary production flourishes that put it squarely in nostalgia-free 2010. Plus, good snare placement. Big tune!”
Drop The Lime: “This is a gigantic release. I love the oldschool jungle vibes brought in with a dubstep slam! I will definitely drop this in sets. Really feeling “Fool In You”. HUGE one!”
Julio Bashmore: “Big track, Big!”
Egyptrixx: “My favorite release from Marc so far, extremely innovative. Deep underground is a total anthem.”"
Baobinga: “Deep Underground sounding nice!”
Mosca: “Tune is saying alot, can’t get a word in edgeways! … def spinning this.”
Renaissance Man: “the DD tunes rock. Strong EP”
Tomb Crew: “This is fucking wicked!!!! Big up- both tunes on this EP are incredible, everything thats exciting about music right now.”
Chrissy Murderbot: “Awesommmmmmme :D :D :D”
NGUZUNGUZU: “THANX for these bangerzzz! sooooo gooood! much love!”
DJ Donna Summer: “Fucking AWESOME!”
