New York City, The bi-weekly BPM152 party starts up today and rocks all summer long. This weeks heavy hitting line up is Myrryrs, Cedaa, Mess Kid, Old Money Knifeshowand Nire. The place, Tammany Hall, will be packed and the the music will be massive. RSVP.
“The talent on the bill for 6/16 is diverse. The lineup of styles vary from the dark trap samples by MYRRYRS, thugging out bright euphoric synths, to Mess Kid, the new face and sound of Lower Manhattan’s party scene. The inaugural BPM152 event is also extra special because it marks just the second NY gig of Cedaa—it’s been a long time coming. Thank NY’s event impresario Jason Scott for bringing it together with creative direction by Marina Heintze of Dom-Ber. More insight on the inspiration for the event coming soon. For now, get familiar with the DJs on deck.” – Mass Appeal

Right from the jump I have to say sorry for sleeping on Zebra Katz. I was sent some dope material, got selfish, kept to myself and did not share it with you good people. Moving on, Welcome to Dark Disco.
We invite you there to complete the circle of experience – to get a taste of this one, specially curated moment. Dark Disco combines it all.
With lineups that are surprising, insightful, and always on the absolute tip of the edge featuring DJ’s, Producers, and artists who are true creators and who’s only goal is to keep the dancefloor live. The environment is an ever changing inspiration of visual artists who’s installations fill the void of your mind with something new to deconstruct and experience.
Past Dark Disco’s have featured such great talent as: Boys Noize, A-Trak, Diplo, Mary Anne Hobbes, Nosaj Thing, Peaches, the US return of MJ Cole and so many more.
Dark Disco is the adventure of MeanRed Co-Owners Jen Lyon & Katie Longmyer. Two agitators and instigators who delight in creating and causing a stir and a discussion and who ultimately, just want to have a good time.
This Dark Disco, we are proud to bring KINGDOM back to NYC.
Alongside him will be DJs MESS KID (Palms Out), hometown hero KAVIAR DISCO, and Palms Out fam, DOYO aka RubenXYZ, who happens to be the director of the stellar Zebra Katz video, as well.
Celebrating their new release and incredible VIDEO on Diplo’s new label Jeffries, our hosts for the night will be ZEBRA KATZ & NJENA REDDD FOXXX

Last month I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Cedaa, a young and exciting artist that is making great music and getting some much deserved early attention. Cedaa just made an amazing mix for XLR8R and broke into the New York scene with a strong CMJ showcase. I was thrilled when he agreed to do a small interview, and mp3 download.
What were some of your music influences growing up in Seattle? What music from Seattle influenced your music?
Proximity to water has always been a big influence. I grew up on a small island just to the east of Seattle. 15 minutes from downtown, but still slightly remote. I worked at a beach club, spent my summers in the water. I love caustics, like on the cover of “Tiffany”. Sir mix-a-lot.
What was your favorite album in 2011? Favorite song?
Pacheko – Lamissy. Couldn’t say about a favorite album, I have a short attention span.
Who are some artists you think people should look out for?
Here are a few labels instead: Fade 2 Mind, Body High, Diamante, B.YRSLF, Pelican Fly. Full support to crews doing big things.
If you could collaborate with any artist who? and Why?
1996 Timbaland. He had a good year.
Worst job you ever had?
Last year, my school’s cafeteria.
Grab Cedaa’s new remix for production duo 5kinAndBone5′s new EP on Grizzly. Grab the whole release from boomkat, or anywhere else.

The Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival is way more comprehensive, central located, packed with talent and food trucked out then ever before. The event is essentially twice as long, Friday and Saturday and taking up just about all of N6th Street in Williamsburg. For a 1 day $25 or 2 day $45 pass you have access to 6 venues in Williamsburg, including Brooklyn Bowl (which is not on N6th Street) to see the best electronic music acts out. Find out more, here.

CMJ has never really made sense to me. A bunch of bands, acts and DJs performing a week long festival in NYC. It is hardly the place to host a festival. Isn’t there always lots of acts all year around at very close venues? Where CMJ can succeed is by showcasing more than up and coming acts, but perhaps a new idea. Thus, BPM 2011 is born. This event is about show casing new and innovative minds that are pioneering a unique pulse, that is the backbone of genres already formed. The pride in this group is the fact that it is not definable, a product, or package. Enjoy some preview music below, and we hope to see you this Friday. Open bar by Asahi 9pm – 12am, gifts by Vitamin Water, and Popchips all night.
Fat Tony – Good While it Lasted

The first time I heard Mess Kid spin down by The Bowery, NYC, I planned on staying for 20 minutes. I ended up dancing for 3 hours. Honest. Mess Kid style of blending and blurring genres grabs the most average of listeners and romances them into a deep hypnotic juke hole. It is my pleasure to share this mixtape. If you have a chance to hear this young man live, do it while it is still free, or cheap.
As well Mess Kid is working on a EP with Sleepyhead, due out in the fall. Here is a Palms Out exclusive…
and as an added bonus…

Cobra Krames and DirtyFinger linked up about a year ago when they were both booked to dj a secret dance party on a converted ferry boat docked in Bushwick Brooklyn. Ever since, they’ve been throwing sweaty, bass fueled dance parties together in NYC. Their latest “Gold Whistle” parties have been rocking NYC’s Lower East Side. With the help of live acts like Kool Keith, New Orleans bounce artist Vockah Redu, 77klash as well as great DJs like Marcus Price, Cousin Cole, Uproot Andy and Roofeeo, it’s always guaranteed fun! This mix is about 45 tracks crammed into 30 minutes of party fuel.

Click on the flyer to visit the The Brooklyn Artist Project and RSVP to the event.
The Brooklyn Artist Project, at its core, is about giving fresh and independent visual artists a platform to share their story with the world and connect with like-minded creatives. The primary goal is to introduce new emerging artists and give some insight to their talents, inspiration, and process. For the first collection, the focus is Brooklyn artists, but hopefully with some support and participation, it can expand to other cities, states, countries, even planets.

The Deathset is gearing up to release there second record titled YO DAVID CHASE! I have heard the entire record and it is like nothing else I have ever heard before. It’s out early next year, and it has already changed what I think about punk rock and electronic music, and the spot where they sometimes meet. Produced by the ever so talented XXXChange, The Deathset is really coming back with mature sound and sincere lyrics.
