Richard Ross

By pablo | May 5, 2006

Our M.I.Yay-OOO kingpin Ricky Ross has certainly been putting out the jams. Though his style of screwed samples and anthemic synth beats is getting a lil’ bit redundant, I can’t front too hard on this banger right here.

It’s Your Boy P.A.Teezer…

By pablo | March 1, 2006

So alot has been going on with your Hypnotize Camp All Star Project Pat since his release from prison in August. After rumors that his time spent working at a Memphis halfway house and preaching to kids at local churches while on probation has changed Pat’s forte from gangsta rapper to ghetto shepard; it didn’t seem likely that your boy would ever be bawkin’ at a chicken again. But rest assured that Pat is still ridin’ clean, making cheese. And through his recent collaborations with ATL Kingpin DJ Drama and The Roots (what!?), we see that Pat’s knack for story telling hasn’t lost its flare and that all the time spent in the mobile studio with sibling Juicy J on his lunch breaks has sharpened his ability to ride a beat. “Turn into a monster like Michael Jack thrill-a-ler, you gone have to bow down to me like I’m Hit-a-ler.”

All Star Recap

By pablo | February 22, 2006

No we aren’t talking NBA here, which would’ve gotten some love had I actually watched the game, rather we are talking ’bout that new Swishahouse mixtape “Posted Up At The All-Star.” Michael Watts and homies aptly title their latest Houston screwed up slab slumper after their recent NBA hometown weekend extravaganza. With an opening track that features an introduction from 5000 Watts over a (SCREWED?!) version of the NBA’s official pump up theme song, could things really be any better in Texas right now?

All Star highlights include T.I’s “What You Know” as well as the Archie Lee and Coota Bang’s basketball themed track “I’m An All Star.” There is even a screwed version of Dade County’s freshest export, Rick Ross, and his latest smash “Hustlin.” Rumored to have just signed with Def Jam (are a Snowman and Boss Ross collabo in the works?), this track has been on daily rotation and you know we had to give you a double dose with a chance to download the regular version here.

Rick Ross – “Everyday I’m Hustlin” (Screwed)
Archie Lee & Coota Bang – “I’m An Allstar”

CANT BAN THE SNOWMAN pt. 5

By pablo | February 17, 2006

You already know. In celebration of this Friday, we got 7 tracks for the tweekend, and we finally close out the last of our Young Jeezy Can’t Ban the Snowman mixtape installments. So prep up the CD burner and lets get it!

21. “Lil Buddy” feat. Bloodraw
Snowman takes one from the Dips on this track. Remember those squeeky ass, Dustin Diamond ass, sped up vocals in S.A.N.T.A.N.A.S Town? This time Jeezy’s voice gets the Carl Lewis, and I could just imagine a miniature Snowman in the mic booth with a triple extra Medium t-shirt on screaming out “17 for 5!”

22. “Still Dont Kno
And if you still didn’t know, this track is for you non-knowing muthafuckas. About 3 references to Atlanta, 6 similes for that soft white, and 15 lines about having his “neck getting jealous of his wrist again.”

23. “Verbal Intercourse” feat. Slick Pulla
At first glance, you probably have to think twice if you “accidentally” downloaded a 7L and Esoteric track (we hope not). This song just doesn’t really make much sense to me. I guess it’s supposed to be going out to everyone who “dont really think these d-boys can’t spit mayne.” I mean just cause Slick Pulla references Sojourner Truth are we really supposed to think dude is on some intellectual shit? He needs to just focus on those wrestling rhymes cause thats where his bread and butter is. And Jeezy just stays off this track entirely. This song was probably a result of one of those uplifting stoner moments when Slick Pulla thought it would be a good idea to get back at every high school teacher who said he was a dumb ass, and Jeezy just steps back and says “do you nigga.”

24. “For The Hood” (interlude)
Jeezy has to reassure everyone that he isn’t going no where. Just in case you thought the rest of the mixtape was gonna be more of Slick Pulla acting like a liberal arts gangster at an open mic.

25. “We Major
Snowman gets on Kanye’s “We Major” instrumental and shouts out his homies from hoods all over the country. Though the lyrics may not be anything amazing, Jeezy’s flow alone sounds impeccable over slow melodic beats like this.

26. “Still I Love It
One of those slow roller tracks with those synthed out melodies and that Southern hi hat, Jeezy comes full force with that gangster swagger. And without any of his latchkey CTE thugs to ruin the song, we get that Snowman shine back. “Just order me a Charger, cocaine white/white paint, white wheels/call it the Snowmobile.”

27. “We Did It Again
Quite possibly my favorite track off the entire mixtape, it’s a shame that this song is like a minute and a half. This seems like more of what to expect off of the upcoming Jeezy album, well produced songs that can hang on an album even if they aren’t going to be lead singles.

CANT BAN THE SNOWMAN pt. 4

By pablo | February 16, 2006

4th down and inches snitches.

16. “Makin It Look Easy”
Jeezy’s signature slow flow compliments Biggie’s “Dead Wrong” beat perfectly. And if this was speedball he’d be just like Mike, and if his bitch gets outta line he’d be just like Ike. Dead Wrong.

17. “I’m A G” feat. Slick Pulla
This might as well be the title of all of Jeezy’s track, but just in case you still didn’t know, he does this shit in his sleep (insert gun shot, followed by “yeaaaaaa,” followed by hyena laugh).

18. “Snitches” feat. Bloodraw
Bloodraw is the equivalent to a Young Buck. One of those dudes with a gruff ass voice who is there to further supply thug support. Mediocre raps aside, dude has got a real mean voice.

19. “Studio Gangsters”
Personally I can’t stand 50′s “Window Shopper,” so no matter how well this hook works over this beat, I aint bumpin’ this shit with my windows down. Well, maybe near the end of track when Jeezy shouts that these dudes are some “Denzel Washington ass niggas, cause they good actors.”

20. “After 2 Million Sold”
One of my favorite Three 6 songs “Hard Hittaz” gets the CTE rework. Solid track with more braggadocio than clowning non-gangsters.

CANT BAN THE SNOWMAN pt. 3

By pablo | February 15, 2006

Third round and we ain’t down.

11. U Can’t Stop These Gangsters feat. Slick Pulla
Definitely one of those tracks that stays on a mixtape. Sounds like dude just enlisted one of the rats from around the block to trade in doing his dirty laundry to sing on this hook. Daaaayaaaam!

12. I Kno U Don’t Love Me feat. Slick Pulla
Another G-Unit beat gets reworked, but why did they have to keep the same hook? And why is Slick Pulla trying to do that weird intonation thing that 50 does? You know, where he sounds like his voice is about to crack? Thank god for the Jeezy-isms that save the track, “You niggas part time hoes and full time bitches.” Spectacular, yes. DJ Drama Rewind!

13. Trap Star feat. Slick Pulla
Ok, so Slick Pulla gets another fuckin’ feature here. Jeezy isn’t even on this track, but don’t fast forward here just yet. The song is worth the download alone to hear Young Bobby Drake talk about ridin’ round the trap in his new Phantom and how he “aint Carmelo but [he] play with them nuggets.”

14. Jeezy The Snowman
The song starts with the Frosty the Snowman melody. Best song ever.

15. Burning Up feat. Slick Pulla & Bloodraw
Though Jeezy easily takes the cake for the best verse on the song, “In the world of street niggas/got more money than George Bush/ George Bush?/So nigga I understand him/I aint never seen the leader of our nation in a Phantom,” I gotta admit I am starting to warm up to that boy Slick Pulla. How can you hate on a dude that “got million dollar plans, but [he] aint Ted Debiase?”

CANT BAN THE SNOWMAN pt. 2

By pablo | February 14, 2006

As promised, Palms Out returns with our second dose of Jeezy cuts for all your Valentine day listening pleasures, so eat your hearts out.

6. Reintroduction
Would any mixtape really be complete without the “freestyle” over the latest club banger or equivalent? Well, this might not be the latest scorcher of sorts, but Snowman is making sure he’s keepin’ “niggas financially embarrased” over Jigga’s “Public Service Announcement.”

7. One’s for CTE feat. Slick Pulla and Blood Royal
Jeezy and co. revisit another Rocafella staple, this time “One For Peedi Crakk” gets the official CTE rework with Slick Pulla giving us his best Beanie Siegel impression on the hook.

8. Gangsta Party feat. Slick Pulla and Bloodraw
The resident USDA R&B cronie gets his chance to shine on this track, as he gets to freak G-Unit’s “Have a Party” with a clever play on the chorus.

9. Say I feat. Christina Milian
Snowman had to do it for the ladies, and here we have his attempt at the R&B/Thug collabo that has worked so well for introducing all the dopeboys to the young prepubescent females out there.

10. Better Than Ever
But don’t get it confused, just cause Jeezy played it slightly soft on the last track, you knew he had to bring it back to calling out all the haters. And he certainly didn’t forget to let us know that he “drink Rose nigga, like you niggas drink Heineken”

CANT BAN THE SNOWMAN pt. 1

By pablo | February 13, 2006

Your favorite trapper’s favorite trapper, Jeezy, is back with his latest mixtape smash “Can’t Ban the Snowman,” with the king of the ATL mixtape game DJ Drama. Seriously, I dont think any promo item has ever done so much to further a person’s career than the infamous Snowman shirts entertaining middle schools, swap meets, and clubs in America, which had every PTA committee and news outlet trying to put the clamps on all the young kids from reppin’ their favorite Trap Star. And with the second round of promo platinum Snowman posters and tees already invading the streets of LA, it just goes to show…YOU CANT BAN THE SNOWMAN!

Though not nearly as impressive as his monumental “Trap Or Die” mixtape, Young Jeezy certainly has the streets buzzing with his latest endeavor. We here at Palms Out Sounds are going to be dropping 5 exclusive tracks a day for all you non-snorters, non-smokers, and non-sippers, so let’s pour it up:

1. “Third Times The Charge
Would any rap CD be complete without the proverbial call out to all the haters and biters? Snowman reminds us to “be you nigga” and that he’d shoot the shit outta all the dudes that be sneak-dissin (he doesn’t give a fuck if the police listenin’).

2. “I’m Back
This is one of my favorite tracks, and Jeezy addresses some of the outstanding issues we may have had with him over the past couple of months over a nice slow riding loop. With the reports over Jeezy being a deadbeat dad from various media outlets over the past couple of months, our CTE representer goes on to defend these claims in this track by letting us know that “you gone need more than a child support lawyer” and that he’s “got some child support for ya, get up off your ass bitch and get yourself a job.”

3. “USDAs the Click
A short Jeezy track that shouts out his crew and newly developed clothing label USDA (United Skreets of Dopeboy Apparel) and its got all the regular gun toting, drug pushin, money stackin lyrics that we love so much.

4. “Ya Dig
A song that starts off with the sniper silencer shots is a worth listening to in my book and Jeezy’s drawl pairs perfectly over this stripped down synth piano loop beat. We even hear Jeezy switch up his flow a couple of times throughout the song, even spitting in the style of recently released Memphis rapper Project Pat: “Monday night Magic City throw your breads on that ho/I’m in the club a hundred deep throwing grams on the floor.”

5. “Cadillac
Snowman had to shout out Cadillac at least one time in the album and why not just dedicate an entire song to his “Chevy straight out the paint shop Gatorade Blue” Ya know, just to catch all the hoes that be thirsty.

Until Tomorrow…

King of Pop?

By pablo | February 1, 2006

Ok, I know this is yet ANOTHER dipset related post but please, “Juelz Santana has become a financial partner in a new HipHopSodaShop opening on 125th Street in Santana’s hometown of Harlem, New York[?!] The rapper is owner of the new franchise, which is licensed by parent company H3Enterprises Inc. (HTRE), a publicly traded company. ‘We’re gonna rip 125th up,’ Juelz said in a press release. ‘It’s great to be able to enjoy all this in my own backyard with my own people. I’ve hung out with my boy A Butta here since we were little punks and now we’re gonna get a chance to actually work together for the good of our own hood.’ Other locations are expected to open in Times Square in Manhattan and on Las Vegas’ famous ‘Strip’.”

Also, here’s a long clip of Jim Jones getting hit by Junior Mafia people, and Cam running away- its hard to understand whos where, but it all becomes pretty clear about half way through.

Fuck Yo Couch

By pablo | January 18, 2006

The Bay Area may be one of the last regions to get its shine, and young scrappys like Champ Bailey (not to be confused with dude) appear to be moving up the ranks as a result of his recent success from such club bangers as “Fuck Yo Couch.” And did I mention I went to high school with dude? Where all my George Washington Eagles at? Bird Call.
