First introduced to us by the lovely Brandon Sek of happyplease.us (formerly Curb Crawlers), Sean Roman made a real impression on us this past February with his soul splashed house hit “Lick.”  Now the Ontario based artist is back with “What To Do”, a steady summer jam filled with encouraging vocal loops that tickle just below the tan line.

Doctor Illingsworth is a hidden gem in the rough that is Detroit. It’s not often Detroit produces an artist that innately heads towards that garagey, funky, future-sound vibe – but Doc does. His foundation is strong and I’m excited to see what he does in the future.

The senses tell us that Detroit is changing, and that change is in the air – sweet vibrations of sound. We have a fair number of new producers coming out of Detroit, and even our very own Melt/POS017 (coming soon) was pressed in Detroit at Archer Records.

Today, I want to share with you some new music from Phil Agosta. We’ve got a classic love affair with Inner City melded with modern production. I heard this track at DEMF and it had the floor moving. Even Kevin Saunderson himself is giving it high praise. You just can’t beat that. Tribute to Detroit is out July 20th on KGBeats.

Our very own B.Rich has been causing quite a stir with his alter-ego: Kastle.

He just sent over a much demanded track “Camera Phone” – a hoover laced, vocoder dripping steamer-  as well as his newest remix for UK’s Example – a bassy hip hop bumper – out on Ministry of Sound. Not one to be at all stingy, home boy also sent over a very very solid funky mix for Martin Buttrich. Look out for his debut EP – out soon on Starkey & Dev79′s Seclusiasis imprint.

It’s pretty much a nailed on fact that by now you’ll know all about Fatboy Slim‘s collaboration with Cheap Thrills label head and all-around busy chap Hervé. It’s called Machines Can Do The Work and it’s a cacophony of acid licks, weird old school rave and a sample from which the track name stems. It’s been pretty big already upon its release on Skint, and the remix EP is soon to follow. The Supabeatz mix which we posted a while ago had to be taken down, but we make it up for you all now with the ever dependable Reset! remix; the guys seem to have taken a step up with this one and added a dancefloor destroying bassline to go with their ever-present ‘turbofunk’ structuring! Big big things, check it! Also, Josh asked us to let you guys know about the Cheap Thrills mailing list – and the fact that if you sign up to it you can get your mitts on an exclusive 13 track mixtape featuring a whole bunch of label stuff mixed by the man himself. Palms Out is proud to announce the release of Marcus Price & Carli‘s EP entitled Mat Bira Kvinnor Weed (Swedish for “Food Beer Women Weed,” some things obviously being universal.) The title track is a bouncy ride for your backside – sub bass booming, skittering whistles, booty bumps and scratched robot voices for days. On the flip is “Var E Näääken” (which translated mean “Where is Näääken”, Näääken being their formerly incarcerated home boy) which delves even deeper into bass cabinet destruction. Huge 808s, persistent snares, and shuffling shakers make for a huge party starter.

The remix line-up for this EP couldn’t be more exciting or satisfying. Boomkat describes the remixes for the 12″ release: “Kingdom does his rugged NY-meets-London thing with jolts of Ballroom house and thick subs, Dubbel Dutch hit the money with G-funked synths atop an electro-housey steamer, Bok Bok works up his stinging neon synths and Girl Unit massively impresses with a boldly futuristic production sheen.” 2 bonus remixes are included with the digital release, a sharp as nails electrified bashment rendition of “Mat Bira Kvinnor Weed” by Swedish newcomers Crazy Pays- as well as a beefy old-school percussive house mix of “Var E Näääken” by Kansas’ Norrit aka.
